B.U.R.T. Rescue is an all volunteer group of approximately 33 members that was started in 1972 after sport divers were called upon by local police and fire departments for search and recovery work. B.U.R.T. Rescue works throughout Madison County and surrounding areas. Most calls are for river work, drowning, weapons and vehicle recovery

B.U.R.T. Rescue is a member of the Madison County Fireman's Association. Our membership is made up of approximately 9 divers, 9 divers assistants and 15 members of other classifications. Members live in an area bounded by Alton (North), Belleville (South), Troy (East) and Creve Couer, MO (West). With this geographical spread we can have a diver on the scene within a reasonable response time.

During call-outs we have a dispatcher on duty at our building. We monitor channels 16 and 13 on the marine radios and frequency 154.430.
